As you may remember from an earlier post, Charley is a walking disaster. She falls ALL the time. I don't know what it is...poorly fitting shoes...lack of shoes...heavy head...wobbly knees...got me. But she literally falls numerous times a day. Unfortunately this means she is also constantly disfiguring her face. This specific day, she fell and cut up her nose...again. And then about five minutes later, Matt tripped over Grant's scooter and took a chunk out of his foot, a big chunk, ick. I do not do well with blood. I get quite faint actually. Good thing I'm not a nurse. But in case you are ever watching my daughter when she falls, give her a wet paper towel to suck on, and she'll be fine.

Time for a Haircut
Just had to post what Molly's hair looks like if we brush it out. It gets so snarly sometimes, that I just can't take it anymore and have to actually brush it. Usually I just do my best to get the knots out with my fingers and water. It was time for another haircut. It seems to be helping a little bit, but you just don't realize how long her hair is when it's so curly. And this isn't even completely straight.

Tradition
I love traditions. And I especially love our family tradition of heading to Robinette's in the fall. The wagon slide, waiting in line for warm pumpkin spice donuts (but not his year because we got there early!), getting lost in the corn maze, enjoying a horse drawn hay ride through the orchard...it's a great way to start out the fall!

Molly's in School
Molly started 3s preschool this year at St. Mark Lutheran School on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. She was so excited to get up and get dressed for her first day of school. Of course we had a little disagreement about her first day outfit, but after working that out, she was so excited to get her backpack on and get in the car. Too bad, school didn't start for two hours. She did really well on her first day and didn't seem to mind at all that I left her there. She was a little apprehensive in meeting her teacher, but did great. I do have to admit that I got a little teary eyed on the drive home when it was just Charley and I in the car. She was so excited to see me when I picked her up, which is fun. Grant never really reacted that way when I picked him up...must be a girl thing. She seems to love it so far and came home on Thursday telling me how they got to finger print (paint) and that it is okay right?...to get glue (paint) on your hands...right? Such a sweetheart. Can't believe she is three and I have never gotten the finger paints out for her. She is gonna love preschool this year!
Crew
This year, Matt was asked to coach a U7 Crew Soccer Team. Crew is a travel soccer league in the Grand Rapids area. Although we only "travel" around the GR area, it's apparantly a premier soccer league. Anyways, we figured we'd have Grant on the team and try it out. Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-6:30pm and games on Saturdays. It has been a big time commitment for our 6 year old. I feel badly that twice a week he gets home from school, has a snack, and has to jet off to practice, which he usually does not want to do. So hopefully it will change soon. He seems to enjoy it once he gets there, but I understand that he wants to "play" more and "work" less. He's a little kid. So we have had three games so far; two in the rain. They won the first game 3-0 and lost the other two. The problem is that there are not many other U7 teams, so they play mostly U8 teams. We are interested to see how that goes. Yikes. Here are some pics of the cute soccer player though.

The End of the Summer
We closed out the summer at my parents place on Lake Michigan. We spent a lot of weekends up there this summer as it was an amazing summer filled with warm temps and lots of sunshine. Unfortunately, the last weekend of the summer, Labor Day Weekend, was pretty much the worst weather that we have had. We did get out on the beach for one day for a few hours, but the cool temps, rain and wind kept us mostly inside.
Still smiling

First Day of First Grade
First day of school, Grant wakes up at 6:30am like its Christmas morning! He was so excited for his first day of first grade. He was SO cooperative getting ready (which is unusual for him), and was ready to go about 30 minutes before we actually had to go. It was so cute. I walk into his room and he is sitting on the floor with his head down and his hands folded..."Maaaahhm...I was praying". When I asked him what he was praying about, he said for a good day at school today. I can't say that I have ever been prouder. We must be doing something right...right? He is so grown up all the sudden, and I know these years are going to fly by. His teacher is Mrs. Nobis, who is wonderful, and I'm looking forward to him having a great year this year. He sits right up front and seems to doing well so far. So excited to see the little person you will become Grant. Love you buddy!
